The Republic of Broadsea

Bellerost, The Free City of Men

The sigil of Bellerost.

One of the three city-states which make up the political power of The Republic of Broadsea. Bellerost has the smallest population of the Three Sisters, with around 250,000 citizens, and is mainly comprised of humans. It is also the most recent of the three cities; founded first as a garrison of naval soldiers against the encroaching gloom of Rykkelm roughly 500 years ago, Bellerost soon flourished into a city proper and gained significant economic and political power after the harvesting of seaflowers generated the Bloom, a powerful hallucinogenic drug.

Due to its lack of major legal infrastructure, Bellerost is known for its high levels of criminal activity, as well as its connections with nefarious sources outside of the Republic. Regardless, it is also the only stronghold in Broadsea against Rykkelm, and the Bloom is used by many sages across the land for powerful psychotropic effects.

The name "Bellerost" comes from General Leron Bellerost (human), whose battalion, the 61st Iron Spears, were the inaugural inhabitants shortly after the garrison was completed.
