The Republic of Broadsea

Highhaven, the City of Reason & Light

The [tentative until AI learns what a fucking trapezoid is] sigil of Highhaven.

The most populous and diverse city-state within the Republic of Broadsea, Highhaven boasts a population of over one million souls of all sapient species. It is located in central Broadsea, making it a primary trade stop between the Three Sisters.

The city itself rests largely upon the Haven Mesa, a singular mesa of two levels which measures around a mile in height at its tallest point. It is broken into four major wards:

Godsward, the aristocratic ward which was built upon the highest level;

Moorsward, the commoner residential and merchant section built upon the lower level;

Farmsward, made up of the poor and farming and fishing castes, which resides on ground level around the ramp up to the city proper; and

Stoneward, within the mesa itself, the newest ward built by the dwarven community after the fall of Dekhza in the Underdark.

Some historians claim that Highhaven was founded prior to the God-Emperor by ancient tribes who lived on the mesa when the surrounding area was underwater. No proof of this exists (other than that the area of Broadsea was submerged in prehistory). The earliest evidence indicates that the city was popular as far back as in God-Emperor III's reign, making the city roughly 4,000 years old.

Government

Highhaven's governor is Princeps Aroa Westlake (elf woman, 408 years old). She has governed the city for seven terms (aka 70 years) and is well-liked. She is on her 8th term.
